No more pencils, no more books, no more 7th graders' dirty looks!! Just kidding. My 7th graders this year were AWESOME. I genuinely enjoyed each and every student, and I learned something from all of them. As each year wraps up, I am constantly reminded that my job is far more than just trying to shove pronouns, complete sentences, and literary elements down the throats of 105 twelve and thirteen-year-olds. I find myself feeling fulfilled when I get letters at the end of the year saying things like "Wow, Ms. Fisher, your creativity made me love English class, and I never liked it until this year," or "I never knew I was good at writing until your class." I realize not every student is going to love me or my class, and I am never offended by that. But those students who take the time out to personally thank me for something specific that has positively affected their lives, fuels my spirit and enables me to come back in August ready to tackle another 180 days...
